First, we gather information about the student, through a questionnaire and then a Zoom meeting. We cover everything. From their academics, interests, writing samples, to their stress level about writing the essays. After collecting all the information, the student and I brainstorm topics for the essay. What story do they want to tell and what meaning will be conveyed? What has shaped who they are? Next, we develop a framework for the essay. As they write their first draft, our communication continues. Once done, the editing process begins, as we together craft and polish their essay. Special care is taken so that all my students and parents feel supported and comfortable.
